Independent Art Fair is pleased to announce the launch of Editions at Independent, a partnership with a select group of international publishers and non-profit organizations offering prints, editions, and ephemera that directly support their missions. Opening on Independent's critically acclaimed online platform on May 4 and exhibited in a special, dedicated section of Independent New York from May 11 – 14, the diverse program comprises works by over 30 leading artists presented by seven partner organizations. They include the inaugural release of a new collaborative initiative between Independent, Phaidon, and Artspace.

CalArts, in partnership with publisher Lisa Ivorian-Jones, has commissioned limited editions and artwork series by a prominent group of 50 artist alumni as a part of 50+50: A Creative Century from Chouinard to CalArts. This unprecedented scholarship endowment initiative marks the 50th anniversary of California Institute of the Arts and the centennial of Chouinard Art Institute, which together have nurtured some of the world’s most influential artistic talent.

Creative Growth is a non-profit organization based in Oakland, California that advances the inclusion of artists with developmental disabilities in contemporary art and strengthens community by providing a supportive studio environment and gallery representation. All artwork sales directly support Creative Growth’s programming, sustaining the high quality of materials and support in the studio as well as opportunities to exhibit the artists’ work locally, nationally, and internationally.

Since its founding in 1953, The Paris Review has been America’s preeminent literary quarterly, dedicated to discovering the best new voices in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The magazine launched its print series in 1964 with original works by Helen Frankenthaler, Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Motherwell, and Andy Warhol, among others. Over the years, the series has grown to include the work of more than 60 artists and has garnered consistent critical acclaim.

Since 2006, Primary Information has fulfilled a singular role in support of artists, providing access to out-of-print publications and commissioning new books by contemporary artists. The organization has published over 175 publications and supported more than 1,000 artists. Its programming advances the relationship between artists’ books and arts activism, creating a platform for historically marginalized artistic communities and practices.

Specific Object is a gallery, bookstore, and think-tank based in New York City and dedicated to art post-1959 with a focus on Pop, Fluxus, minimal, and conceptual work. The materials it presents range from artists’ publications, ephemera, prints, multiples, and other editions to literature, music/audio works, and unique artworks of the contemporary world.

Independent x Phaidon & Artspace
Featured artist: Jameson Green
Independent is pleased to partner with Phaidon and Artspace to present a new limited edition of 36 hand-colored lithographs by New York-based artist Jameson Green, to be released on May 11. Three variable editions of 12 include generous hand-finishes by the artist in three different colorways. This commission celebrates the significant relationship between the artist and Independent, where Green’s solo presentation with Derek Eller Gallery was received with critical acclaim in 2021.
