INAUGURAL NEW YORK ART WEEK TO TAKE PLACE MAY 5-12

Over 20 Galleries, Museums, and Auction Houses Join Together in Presenting Contemporary Art Programming Across the City.

The New York art community is pleased to present New York Art Week, an inaugural city-wide initiative taking place from May 5th-12th, 2022. Founded by over twenty leading organizations, museums, and auction houses, New York Art Week will highlight an unprecedented offering of global art market events and institutional exhibitions taking place in New York City.

“New York Art Week is a wonderful opportunity to build community and the spirit of collaboration and partnership across the diverse range of visual arts organizations around the city….” -Isolde Brielmaier, Deputy Director, New Museum.

A new week devoted to contemporary art in May promises to feature several important exhibitions, events, and biennials that will be taking place at the same moment, many for the first time. Four art fairs with over 350 visiting galleries globally are taking part after recently aligning on spring dates. Two major auction houses will launch Contemporary Art sales previews, which attract the international art communities.

"New York Art Week is an opportunity to amplify the complexity of New York's many art worlds. From the smallest independent art space to the largest institution, we are all committed to creating a context and developing an audience for artists' ideas."
- Matthew Higgs, Director, White Columns.
