About the Gallery
Founded in 2016, YveYANG Gallery is situated in a historic sewing machine factory just above the thriving Tribeca gallery district. The gallery provides emerging and mid-career artists from around the world the opportunity to stage ambitious debut exhibitions in New York City. Reflecting the transformative impact of new technologies on our daily lives, YveYANG encourages its artists to challenge disciplines and push boundaries—whether through the language of painting or innovative mediums—to develop new narrative formats.
About the Presentation
YveYANG Gallery will debut at Independent with a duo presentation featuring Huidi Xiang and Allan Rand.
Inspired by the iconic tomato-shaped pincushion, Huidi Xiang’s hand-polished 3D-printed aluminum sculptures are arranged on the floor. This project explores the inherent violence embedded in care and healing. Traditionally seen as a symbol of nourishment and prosperity, the tomato becomes a site of tension when pierced by pins, echoing the commodification and exploitation of domestic labor and care work—burdens often disproportionately borne by women, immigrants, and marginalized communities.
On the walls, a curated selection of Allan Rand’s paintings spanning the past decade will be presented. These painterly works explore the language of painting itself and the narratives embedded within enigmatic scenarios. Poetic and ambiguous, Rand’s paintings are mercurial objects eliciting different experiences over time. Acting as catalysts for imaginative storytelling, they offer eclectic prompts for contemplation and discovery.
