About the Gallery
Founded in 2022, YveYANG is dedicated to discovering emerging artists and historically overlooked practices from around the world. Located in a former sewing machine factory at the border of SoHo and Tribeca in New York City, the gallery focuses on materially distinct and critically engaged work. YveYANG builds its program through close dialogue with its artists, shaped by a sensitivity to form, context, and intensity, and bolsters it through a meaningful international presence.
About the Presentation
YveYANG will present work by Raphael Egil and Kim Stolz in a duo presentation at Independent. Egil’s paintings resist fixed form, combining close observation with poetic abstraction to transform everyday motifs and art-historical references into atmospherically unstable scenes. Stolz's work, which spans watercolor, gouache, and acrylic on small-scale canvases, is noted for its simple compositions and exploration of form and color through gestural movements. Together, their practices point to a renewed attention to slowness, duration, and perceptual uncertainty—qualities that feel increasingly urgent in a moment shaped by speed, clarity, and over-articulation.
