About the Gallery
Based in Oslo, STANDARD (OSLO) was established by Eivind Furnesvik in April 2005. The gallery was founded with the dual aim of supporting contemporary Norwegian artists by promoting their work on the international stage and introducing exceptional international artists to a Norwegian audience. Exhibiting work in all media, including installation, video, painting, and sculpture, the gallery represents leading emerging and mid-career artists from Scandanavia and abroad, including Tauba Auerbach, Nina Beier, Ian Cheng, Gardar Eide Einarsson, Torbjørn Rødland, and Matias Faldbakken. Gallery artists have been included in numerous important international exhibitions, such as Documenta, the Whitney Biennial, the Gwangju Biennial, and Momentum—the Nordic Art Festival. In addition to its ambitious program of exhibitions, the gallery publishes artist’s books and exhibition catalogues under its STANDARD (BOOKS) imprint. In 2012, STANDARD (OSLO) moved to its current space, a former motorcycle repair shop at Waldemar Thranes Gate.
