About the Gallery
Spencer Brownstone Gallery (SBG) was founded in 1998 by Spencer Brownstone as a platform to promote strong art, compelling ideas, and the artists behind them. Since its inception, the gallery has been committed to showing contemporary art across all mediums by artists from all over the world. SBG was first established on Wooster street, Soho before moving to Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side in 2016.

About the Presentation
Spencer Brownstone Gallery will debut at Independent with a group presentation featuring work by Mira Dayal, Jaime Pitarch, and Jane South. While these artists approach their respective practices with distinct methodologies and mediums, each engages with the material world and the systems that organize our daily lives. They converge in their investigation of how ordinary materials and structures shape and reveal human experience.

The presentation examines the tension between the utilitarian and the poetic, the systematic and the subjective. Dayal's iterative systems challenge the boundaries between language and object; South's soft compressions of architectural and industrial forms offer new ways of seeing the ordinary; and Pitarch's transformations of everyday items expose the alienation embedded in familiar forms.

At a moment when technological acceleration and algorithms increasingly mediate our relationship to the world, these practices reassert the significance of physical materials, labor, and human engagement with objects as sites of meaning-making.
