About the Gallery
Founded in December 2020 by Isaac Simon, South Parade is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to early and emerging career positions. Originally in Deptford (South East London), the gallery moved to Farringdon (Central London) in August 2023.
The space accommodates ambitious presentations with the option to present expanded solo exhibitions or two separate exhibitions concurrently across its two gallery rooms. Utilising the expansive site, South Parade continues to elevate artistic voices through its exhibitions, but now with a greater capacity to engage wider demographics across the arts, culture and literary sector. The gallery continues to host a multifaceted events programme to accompany exhibitions, ranging from poetry readings to in-conversations and publication launches, inviting practitioners beyond its roster to share their work and open dialogues further.
About the Presentation
For Independent, South Parade will present a solo presentation of new paintings by British artist Zoë Carlon, making her New York debut. The practice explores our experience of solitude within communal spaces, moments of transition and active attention. Environments we would otherwise pass through, or linger within a shared encounter, are captured and experienced in seclusion, offering a moment of solitude as a tonic to the ever increasing division of our attention.
