About the Gallery
Plan B was founded in 2005 in Cluj, Romania, on the initiative by Mihai Pop and Adrian Ghenie as a production and exhibition space for contemporary art. The gallery program focuses on researching Romanian art from the past 50 years, highlighting the work of remarkable artists who have had little to no international exposure.

In 2008, Plan B expanded by opening a permanent exhibition space in Berlin, which has since been managed by Mihai Pop and Mihaela Lutea. In 2009, Plan B helped initiate Fabrica de Pensule (The Paintbrush Factory) in Cluj, an independent cultural center housed in a former paintbrush factory. Currently, Plan B Cluj is working on establishing Fundatia Plan B, an art foundation with programs designed for a historic late Baroque palace in the city center, now undergoing renovations. This foundation will broaden the research and presentation of Romanian art in an international context.

Outside the gallery’s regular programming, Mihai Pop has co-curated several exhibitions in the context of the Prague Biennale 4, a section of the exhibition Romanian Cultural Resolution at the Spinnerei Leipzig and Club Electroputere Craiova, and Mircea Pinte Collection at the Museum of Art in Cluj. In 2007, Plan B organized the Romanian Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale, curated by Mihnea Mircan and featuring artists Victor Man, Cristi Pogacean, Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor, Christoph Büchel & Giovanni Carmine. Mihai Pop later curated the Romanian Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015, showcasing works by Adrian Ghenie. In 2024, Serban Savu presented his project What Work Is at the Romanian Pavilion in the Giardini della Biennale and at The New Gallery of the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice. The project was realised with the support of Galeria Plan B.

About the Presentation
Tincuta Marin will make her New York debut in a solo presentation with Plan B. Tincuta Marin’s art merges ancient symbolism with modern artistic forms, drawing inspiration from Ancient Egyptian mythology, fantastical worlds, and imagined personas. Her paintings and collages create a wondrous tapestry of distant realities, fantasies, and myths, blending the aesthetics of antiquity with contemporary fragmentation and dynamism. At a time of political and social uncertainty, Marin’s reactivation of magical thinking highlights the enduring relevance of symbolic power and cultural heritage. Through painting, collage, and sculpture, she creates an immersive experience that connects past and present, reinforcing the significance of myth and artistic expression today.
