About the Gallery
Currently based in London and New York, Marlborough Contemporary was established by Max Levai as an offshoot of the esteemed international dealers Marlborough Gallery, founded in London in 1946. In 2017, Levai consolidated Marlborough's contemporary exhibitions, previously run separately as Marlborough Contemporary in London and Marlborough Chelsea in New York, into a single coherent program, representing an international roster of artists including Celeste Dupuy-Spencer, Andrew Kuo, Julius von Bismarck, Aïda Ruilova, and Ari Marcopoulos, complemented by historical presentations in dialogue with contemporary work. Recent exhibitions in London have focused on living artists from the United States making their solo debuts in London, including Sarah Braman and Susan Te Kahurangi King.

Marlborough Gallery first gained acclaim for its embrace of a new generation of British artists, including Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, and Graham Sutherland, in the years following World War II; Marlborough Contemporary continues the gallery's legacy of championing important contemporary artists into the 21st century with a new generation of artists and programs.
