About the Gallery
Lubov is a contemporary art gallery established in 2016 by Francisco Correa Cordero that supports the production and exhibition of new work by emerging artists through commissions and solo exhibitions working collaboratively with writers and curators. The gallery organizes approximately six solo exhibitions and one group exhibition per year.

About the presentation
Lubov will present a dual exhibition of new paintings by Shannon Cartier Lucy and Xingzi Gu. Based in Nashville, Lucy explores art’s ability to evoke feelings of the liminal and uncanny. She has conceived a new body of work specifically for Independent New York, titled Stars. Xingzi Gu will make their New York debut at both Independent New York and Lubov’s gallery in Chinatown. Their work raises questions about intimacy, trust, and storytelling, infused with the melancholy and decadence of modern Chinese literature. Xingzi has recently been inspired by the theme of innocence corrupted, rendered in the novels of writers such as Su Tong and Yu Dafu.
