About the Presentation
Hannes Heinrich will make his New York debut in a solo presentation with Lohaus Sominsky, a first-time exhibitor at Independent. Heinrich’s frottage technique inscribes everyday objects and his own body directly onto the canvas, creating a painting practice that moves between abstraction and figuration, order and chaos. His works reveal how the intimate and the everyday are inseparably tied to existential questions. This process invites us to perceive the function of everyday objects and the feeling of our own bodies differently. It makes us recognize the everyday not as mere routine, but rather as something charged with renewed function and meaning.
