About the Gallery
Instituto de visión is a gallery focused on conceptual practices, directed by women and located in Bogotá. Our mission is to investigate the artistic discourses that have been left out of the official history of art. Through the { visionarios } program, we have recovered important collections of the Latin American art scene from the mid-20th century and we continue to investigate the most enigmatic praxis in the region.

Through a double program, we also represent some of the most relevant practices in Mexico, Chile, North America, Venezuela, among others. Led by three women, the instituto de visión pays special attention to female voices, queer theory, environmental activism, the displaced condition, and other critical positions that challenge the established order.

Using the international art scene as a platform, we are committed to giving visibility and expanding the work of artists who reveal critical realities and raise important questions to understand contemporary issues.

About the Presentation
Instituto de visión will present work by Ana Mercedes Hoyos in a solo presentation at Independent 20th Century. Ana Mercedes Hoyos stands as a central figure in Colombian art, engaging critically with international modernism while developing a distinct visual language shaped by rigorous, self-directed study; in her work, elements of tropical culture operate as conceptual tools to rethink identity, representation, and place. As a pioneering woman in the Latin American art market, her practice invites renewed attention beyond formal readings, revealing deeper tensions around gender, modernity, and power. Through A Summer in New York, Instituto de Visión reframes her legacy, linking the artistic and personal freedom she found in the city to broader narratives of Latin American diaspora, cultural exchange, and belonging.
