About the Gallery
Fredericks & Freiser (est. 1996) is committed to showcasing emerging artists as well as recontextualizing artists of earlier generations. Fostering a continuum between past and present, the gallery’s curatorial program maintains a long history of focusing on artists who have made important contributions to the development of 20th and 21st century art.
About the Presentation
Fredericks & Freiser will present paintings by rising star Caroline Absher following her successful debut solo exhibition at the gallery. Absher’s highly intuitive, stylistically restless body of work focuses on the connection between nature and the unseen world. Her energetic brushwork often reveals figures—humans, animals, or fairies—that extend the paintings’ verdant spaces into a psychological realm. Absher’s show at Independent will feature a changing installation of eight works exploring the contrast between light and darkness.
