About the Gallery
Fazakas Gallery was founded in 2012 with a primary mandate to support the exhibition, critical analysis, and considered acquisition of contemporary Indigenous art. We work with established Northwest Coast artists, including Beau Dick, Rande Cook, and Don Yeomans, as well as emerging and mid-career artists such as Audie Murray, Jason Baerg, Couzyn van Heuvelen, and Corey Bulpitt.

About the Presentation
Fazakas Gallery will present work by Catherine Blackburn in a solo presentation, marking Catherine Blackburn’s New York debut.

Catherine Blackburn, member of the English River First Nation (Dënesųłinë́), is a multidisciplinary artist whose common themes explore Indigenous sovereignty, decolonization, and representation, often prompted by personal narratives. Through stories and experiences both personal and political, her work in beading and adornment stitches together histories and practices bound by reclamation and resistance. Though historically overlooked in critical contemporary art spaces, artists addressing issues of land sovereignty and reclamation are now emerging as central voices, their work more crucial than ever.
