About the Gallery
EUROPA is a contemporary art gallery located at the threshold of the Lower East Side and Chinatown neighborhoods. The gallery emphasizes emergent art and authentic visual voices. We prioritize nurturing our community and continue to explore the crossover of art and music as we host dinners, poetry readings, and live performances within our space. EUROPA opened in 2022 after five years as Safe Gallery in Brookyln.

About the Presentation
EUROPA will debut at Independent with a solo presentation featuring work by Suyi Xu.

Suyi Xu’s recent trompe l’oeil works depict frames within frames—a series of planes organized through a scientific grid, or a study of perspectives wherein a faint outline of a gothic monastery emerges from a hazy amber mist. The monochromatic use of paint suggests the space rendered is seen through the mind’s eye rather than a realistic depiction of physical space. Suyi’ Xu’s work delves into an internal spirituality that provides a source of refuge when the outside world is in chaos and disarray.
