About the Gallery
Founded by Nicole Russo in a small Chinatown storefront in 2013, Chapter NY works with artists at various phases in their careers, emphasizing intimate exhibitions and artist-driven projects. Chapter NY focuses primarily on solo presentations, working closely with each artist to present concise exhibitions with dynamic scope. Originally a weekend-only project space, Chapter NY shifted to a full-time gallery in 2015, representing artists such as Sam Anderson, Mira Dancy, Willa Nasatir, and Adam Gordon. In addition to its expanding gallery roster, Chapter NY has provided a flexible platform for non-represented artists working across a range of media, including Keltie Ferris, Jesse Stecklow and Anicka Yi. In September 2016, the gallery moved to a larger space in a Lower East Side townhouse, providing artists with more room to experiment.

The foreboding title of Ann Greene Kelly’s fine solo show at Chapter NY, May Not Be Private, comes from a medical form.
The title of Mira Dancy’s second gallery show in New York is simple and open-ended: “Yes.”
