About the Gallery
Located in the mythical district of San Telmo - meters away from the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires - Calvaresi is presented as a meeting space between different artistic languages. The four building plants, which includes basement and terrace, has two spaces for temporary exhibitions, which allow us to think about the versatility and optimal possibilities for the constant transformations demanded by contemporaneity. The diffusion of Argentine artists is the main objective of the gallery, transmitting concrete actions of promotion and circulation.

About the Presentation
Calvaresi presents the Argentinian artist Luis A. Ouvrard in a solo presentation at Independent 20th Century. Luis A. Ouvrard (1899-1988), a self-taught artist from Rosario, with a strong connection to the artistic environment of his city from a young age, was involved in the creation of various art groups in the early 20th century. One of the most prominent was the Nexus Group, where he shared the scene with Lucio Fontana and Antonio Berni, among others. Son of immigrants from the Périgord, a former province in the southwest of France, who settled in Rosario, Ouvrard lived his entire life in that city surrounded by the countryside of Santa Fe. In his paintings, he combines these two biographical landscapes, which seem dreamlike to him, showing scenes that oscillate between the evocation of the French countryside and his everyday plain landscape, articulating an imaginary composition between the objective and the narrative. His work currently circulates in various contemporary art spaces. In 2013, the pastel exhibition Parted Purple Fruit was held at the River Paraná Publishing Club. In 2016, the anthological exhibition TheKey of Dreams was held at the Museo Castagnino+macro, Rosario. 2023 saw two major exhibitions of his work: Ouvrard All Year Round, at Ivan Rosado, Rosario, and On the Road, at Calvaresi, Buenos Aires. In 2024, Malba Puertos opened with Natural Essays I, an exhibition of works by Ouvrard and Mondongo.
