About the Gallery
Callirrhoë serves as a gallery for contemporary art, blending elements of an art association to foster connections between art and society. It provides a platform for artists, thinkers, and all those engaged in current discourses, addressing questions that arise in our rapidly changing era. Exhibitions are curated around these themes, aiming to deepen our understanding of art's impact on society and its role in shaping collective consciousness and memory. The space not only showcases group exhibitions focused on these issues but also features solo exhibitions by emerging Greek contemporary artists, with the broader ambition to promote Greek art internationally through collaborations abroad. The name "Callirrhoë", derived from Greek roots meaning "beautiful flow", reflects the natural outpouring of artistic expression and ideas that the space seeks to cultivate. The space was founded in November 2020 and is run by Olympia Tzortzi.

About the Presentation
Nicole Economides will make her New York debut in a solo presentation with Callirrhoë, a first-time exhibitor at Independent.

Greek-American artist Nicole Economides explores feelings of nostalgia, home, and the quest for one's identity, especially in a transatlantic context. Her artistic practice sheds light on the intersections of memory, migration, and identity, delving into both personal experiences and cultural signifiers. She presents a personal reflection on the impact of economic migration on individual and collective identities, exploring the intricate interplay of language and culture in shaping distinct experiences of belonging. The presentation is particularly relevant now as it addresses the ongoing global conversation around migration and identity, themes that have become even more prominent in the context of current geopolitical and economic shifts.
