About the Gallery
Andrew Kreps Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York, representing the works of more than 30 international artists and estates. Founded in 1996, the gallery was initially based in Chelsea before relocating to its current Tribeca space in 2019. 

About the Presentation
Andrew Kreps Gallery will present work by Harold Stevenson in a solo presentation at Independent 20th Century. The 1960s was a formative decade for Harold Stevenson’s career. Stevenson’s unflinching depictions of the male nude and engagement with queer sensuality challenged the cultural conservatism of postwar America, provoking censorship and controversy throughout his lifetime. Long overshadowed by American puritanism and institutional resistance, his work has received increasing recognition in recent years for its contribution to postwar figuration and queer art history.
