About the Gallery
Established in São Paulo in 1998, Almeida & Dale promotes the legacy of emblematic and emerging artists, fostering contemporary art on the national and international platforms.
With three venues in São Paulo, the gallery carries out an exhibition and editorial program of excellence, forges collaborations with renowned institutions and collections, and is present at the world’s leading art fairs, placing it as one of the most influential Brazilian galleries.
Representing more than 50 artists and estates, brings together key figures in Brazilian Modernism, leading names in the shaping of Brazilian contemporary art and its worldwide prominence, alongside emerging and established artists who keep redefining the artistic horizon.
In 2025, by completing its merger with the celebrated Millan gallery, founded in 1986, also in São Paulo, Almeida & Dale embraces a history of profound commitment to artistic experimentalism, close collaboration with artists to position them in major exhibitions and institutions, and to the development of international careers.
Almeida & Dale actively embraces the challenge of promoting multiple perspectives and new approaches, focusing on being a platform for artists in powerful projects. By combining artistic expertise and a strategic eye for the global dynamics of the sector, the gallery encourages the expansion and widening of Latin American art by continuing to amplify and empower the art market.
About the Presentation
Almeida & Dale and David Nolan Gallery will present work by Miguel Rio Branco and Chakaia Booker at Independent, two pioneering artists from Brazil and the United States, respectively. Together, Booker and Rio Branco articulate a shared attentiveness to material, body, and environment as sites where histories of inequality, but also affirmation, are inscribed. Brought into dialogue at Independent, their works resonate with urgent concerns such as the environmental crisis and confront structural violence while insisting on the visibility, agency, and resilience embedded in everyday life. Working in different media, their unique voices create a rich and layered conversation where beauty, sensuality, playfulness and irony are tangible ingredients of a vibrant celebration of life.
