About the Gallery
Established in 2004, Alison Jacques has built a reputation for an international, curatorially led exhibition programme with an emphasis on achieving museum shows for the gallery artists. A pioneering commitment to under acknowledged artists and Estates, alongside younger and mid-career international artists, forms the ethos of the gallery which recently expanded to a new larger space in Mayfair, inaugurated with a solo exhibition of Sheila Hicks.

About the Presentation
Alison Jacques will present a solo show of works by American artist Lenore Tawney, a vanguard figure in fiber art during the second half of the 20th century. Tawney’s groundbreaking woven sculptural forms, which achieved strong sculptural presence, are her most recognizable series. However, over the course of five decades, she developed a multifaceted practice encompassing large-scale sculptural installations, box-like assemblages, intricate collages, and graphic drawings. Tawney was inspired by states of existence and natural phenomena. She practiced meditation throughout her life which, combined with her interest in Indian spiritualism and Zen Buddhism, was hugely influential in her approach to making.
