Loïc Gouzer is the founder and CEO of Fair Warning, an innovative art auction app that showcases a thoughtfully curated selection of artwork. In July 2020, Fair Warning sold a work by Jean-Michael Basquiat for $10.8 million, setting the world record for the highest in-app purchase ever.
Prior to founding Fair Warning, Loïc was the Co-Chairman of Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s. Loïc made a name for himself as an auction rainmaker by orchestrating record-breaking sales and pioneering the concept of a themed sale, a stand-alone auction separate from the traditional engagements on the house’s calendar. Most notably, he masterminded the sale of Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi for a record-shattering price of $450.3 million, making it the most expensive artwork ever sold.
Beyond Loïc Gouzer’s auction successes, he is a dedicated environmental activist and has worked to garner the awareness and support of art collectors for environmental causes. He played a pivotal role in securing funding for Global Fishing Watch, a platform tracking illegal fishing activities around the globe. Since 2013, Loïc has been a board member of Oceana, a non-profit dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans. In 2015 in collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio, Loic organised the 11th Hour charity that raised $38.8 million for wildlife and environmental conservation projects. On an individual level, Loïc regularly leverages his social media platform to direct public attention towards environmental issues.
